Lookeee What I Did!

Ok, so we’re not the most prolific bloggers on the web.  Actually we both have good excuses - we both work full time.  When you work full time and then come home to chores, and you’re just pooped out from a long day - and typically there are no brain cells left functioning by that time of day, so, well….please be patient with us!

I’m going to try this entry in the default font size to see how I like it.

We took a class last Saturday down in Canby, Oregon.  It was the fall workshop put on by the Aurora Guild.  Our class was color blending and our instructor was Janis Thompson.  Wow, what fun!!  Janis brought all kinds of dyed and undyed fibers to play with.  Not only did we play with the color wheel, we also learned about tint, tone, and shade.  We made big (ok - I made big fat colorful batts - for some reason my batts came out larger than most everyone else’s.  I felt like a fiber piggie having entirely too much fun).  Then we rolled up the batt into a big jelly roll and then slowly attenuated it out until we had a long swirl of color.  Then we further attenuated it out until the roving was ready to spin.  I chose to spin mine into fat singles for ??? (some project down the road).  Everyone’s rovings were absolutely gorgeous!!  Here’s my two balls of roving ready for spinning:

Please don’t ask why the two above images aren’t the same size….it’s 5 am and I’m in a hurry to do this before going to work!  Now below are two images of the yarns I created from these fun, colorful rovings!!

Well, I’ll get no style points for this blog entry layout - but hey!  Aren’t these fun???!!
