We’re headed out today - on the road to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (my old stomping grounds - woo-hoo!!). Cd’A is much larger than it was when I was a kid. I have very fond memories of waterskiing on CdA lake, boating all the way from Black Lake to Cd’A (long but beautiful boat ride), and cruising on the large boats on a college break. Then there’s the Iron Horse. Heh. Another college haunt. They serve a drink that only comes in a pitcher - many different kinds of rum - it’s called a “derailer”. Tee hee - boy were they good.
But we’re headed over for the annual NwRSA (Northwest Regional Spinners Assoc) Conference. So I think I’ll skip the Iron Horse! We’ll be vending and having a great time catching up with all our spinner friends. I simply cannot wait! The fiber and the wine are packed - oops! Gotta go pack some clothes!! See ya next week!!!!

I’ve been whining about work - yada yada - and am eagerly looking forward to some time off next week. As I mentioned in my previous post that we’re headed north. Imagine my childish glee when I discovered this!!! I am not usually fortunate in the timing department - but I seem to have hit the jackpot this time. Tee Hee! No, I’ll not be able or need to visit every shop - but the possibilities are astounding. And so many open on Sunday. Ah! Be still my heart! Hey Jessica - are you working Saturday?
Please pardon that previous post! I re-read it this morning and ….sigh…. I wasn’t very articulate. My thoughts are scattered and am having trouble focusing. I am in dire need of a vacation - good thing I have one scheduled next week! Woo-hoo! DH has never been to the San Juan’s in NW Washington State - so we’re off starting next Saturday! I have to stop in Seattle at Weaving Works for some heddles. And I’ll be on the lookout for any cool yarn/fiber shops on any of the islands or anything like that nearby. We’ll spend some time on the islands, then head south via Whidbey, then to Port Townsend and south via Poulsbo. If any of you WA Staters are reading this, please send me a list of yarn shops!!! I am planning on a stop to Ana Cross Stitch in Anacortes (love that place). And DH is very supportive - he knows my job has been major stress lately and that some retail therapy in a few yarns stores will have me smiling again. Yes, I don’t need any more yarn, but can’t seem to help myself!

I have been stressed/freaked/disgruntled and discouraged the past few weeks because my workplace is weird. We’ve been purchased and the axe is falling. My job isn’t on the chopping block (that I know of, anyhow), but everyone is all stressed out. Susan went through this last year and has been a big help and sounding board (poor Susan!). I had to go get a new nightguard at the dentist office because I’ve chewed clean through my old one (how pathetic is THAT?).

Susan’s Favorite! Merino Top!!!
But enough of the doom n’gloom! Our blog has languished the past couple of weeks. I’ve not felt creative enough to blog. But I’ve been reading many other people’s blogs. They are a source of inspiration for me and tend to help “recenter” myself when I think negative thoughts. The spinning blog community is a large one - and soooo many talented people! And even if blogland is widespread, it can, at times become quite small! I’ve been gabbing with Marcia who lives somewhere back east, I think…she has the cutest little marled yarn sock on her blog! And she’s making marled yarn ala Judith MacKenzie McCuin from merino top. Ha! I just typed “merino top”. Susan is now cringing. Heh. I just LOVE marled yarn!! And Susan begins to cry when JMM whips out the merino top!! Marcia is good buddies with another blogger whose blog I read: Shelley’s blog! I told Shelley I enjoy her blog - even if it makes me homesick for my home state of Idaho.
Ah, the power of the internet! I use it to transport myself into an online world of fiber - where I can find inspiration and great cameraderie! And for Marcia ~ here’s a photo of the embroidery thread we were spinning in my last JMM class using that merino top…..
