Spring took it’s time to get here. Everything seems far behind schedule this year - am hoping for a week’s worth of sun so our local hayman can get this year’s crop in for us. Hay in the barn is security, sort of like having enough toilet paper in the house.
We didn’t have a model on duty, so my dress form will have to do…..this gorgeous shawl was hand knit for us by Galina Khmeleva of Orenburg lace fame. There is a great article on her in the latest issue of Piecework magazine (lace issue!). Galina knit this from our 2008 batch of Pygora/Merino laceweight yarn. It’s approx 24 wpi/2.8 oz per 400 yds.

And lastly, we are so excited about this year’s batch of lace!!! It’s still the same 70%Pygora/30%Merino blend, 400 yd skeins, but each skein is weighing in at an average of 1.85 oz. That’s roughly 30 wpi and 216 yd/oz.
Oh, and the website,
http://www.rainbowyarnsnw.com received a long-overdue update.
It’s a sunny day, so I’m off to clean out / dig out the barn. I’ll spare you the photos…..
Happy spinning!!

Our friend Lisa posted a you tube video on her website and I’m including a link here for your baby goat fix!
I especially like the second half of the video - if you watch closely, you can see the little Pygora goats boinging around the pasture - way, way too cute!
This year’s crop at Hawks Mountain Ranch!
